Why Drink Water?
We all know that our bodies are made up primarily of water and that our bodies need water for optimal health and function. But what are the benefits that you will actually feel and see from drinking more water?
Eliminate toxins
Drinking water helps flush out the bad stuff our bodies don't need or want. It stimulates your digestive system to get things moving. Drinking water can help to eliminate bacteria that cause inflammation, which in turn causes pain and discomfort.
Boost your metabolism
Did you know that drinking water first thing in the morning gives your metabolism a kick start?
Drinking water can also tamper those feelings of hunger. Sometimes dehydration is disguised as hunger and simply drinking some water can make you feel satisfied.
Prevent premature aging
Being properly hydrated prevents the premature aging of your organs. Since your skin is your largest organ, staying hydrated can prevent wrinkles and help your skin look and feel younger.
These are just a few of the many reasons to drink more water!
Five Ways to Increase your Water Intake
Track your consumption
Use a tracker to document how many glasses of water you've consumed in a day. This is the first step to success in creating a new habit.

Drink a glass first thing in the morning
When we sleep, we have not fed our bodies any water, so we naturally wake up dehydrated. Drinking a glass of water first thing not only gets you started on the right foot but also gets your body ready to work for the day.
Tip: Pour out a glass of water before you go to bed every night and put it on the counter where you'll see it first thing in the morning . When you wake up and come into the kitchen, before doing anything else, drink that glass of water immediately. Since it's been sitting out, it will be room temperature and will be easier to drink.
Buy a water bottle and keep it with you
Get yourself a large water bottle (the 32oz Hydro Flask is good for this) and keep it at your side all day long. Determine how many times you have to drink and refill the water bottle equal to 8 glasses of water a day.
8 glasses of water equal 64oz (8 glasses multiplied by 8oz in a cup). If using a 32 oz. bottle, you'll need to drink two to consume 64oz.
Tip: Make it a goal to drink one bottle in the morning before lunch, then refill the bottle at lunchtime and drink the second one for the rest of the day!
Add some flavoring
Something as simple as adding a slice of lemon or lime can make drinking water easier. You can also find natural water additives at the grocery store like this raspberry lemonade flavor one by True Lemon.
Tip: In the winter months, heat up some water and add fresh lemon slices or a squeeze of juice for a warm and cozy beverage.
Set a timer or make hourly goals
Use your phone's timer or alarm app to make reminders for yourself to stop and drink water. Set them at 2-3 hour intervals.
Tip: Buy a water bottle that does this for you. Here are some highly-rated options from Amazon
With these simple and easy to implement tips, you can create a healthy habit of drinking more water effortlessly!
